Visiting Artist at Central School of Speech & Drama

Scarlett is visiting dance artist on several BA and MA courses at Central between October-December 2009. The sessions, organised by Scenography and Performance Arts lecturer Simon Donger, aim to introduce students to the language of dance, movement analysis and the potential of the body as a tool in devising performance, with strong reference to the processes of Butoh. Scarlett's involvement includes:
  • A solo performance for the 3rd year BA Design students to create a speculative design for, with follow-up discussions assessing their response to choreography.
  • Two dance workshops for the 2nd year BA Performance Art students as part of a term-long interdisciplinary project which involves puppetry, film animation and sound artists.
  • A dance workshop for the MA students in Theatre Practice, exploring the idea of self-portrait and the use of materials and spatial elements.
